Ken's Story

Ken has always noticed smells first. As a boy he could tell what was cooking before he reached the door, and that nose never left him.

When he moved to Canada and made Calgary home, a whole new set of scents found him: cut hay drying in the August sun along the ranch roads, saddle leather at the Stampede, wild sage on the prairie, cedar fence posts after a summer storm, and the sudden sweetness in the air when a Chinook rolls over the Rockies.

He started blending oils at his kitchen table, writing notes in a worn leather book, chasing one question: why does one smell make you feel like you're home?

Muse de Parfum is his answer. Every bottle is blended and filled by hand in Calgary at extrait strength, built to last from the morning commute to a night out. Ken still wears his hat while he works. He says it keeps him honest.

How every bottle is made

Ken works with premium, IFRA-certified fragrance oils from a fragrance house in Cologne, Germany. Each scent is blended and filled by hand at his workbench in Calgary, at extrait strength, so it lasts 8 to 10 hours or more on skin.

Every MDP fragrance is alcohol-free. Instead of ethanol, Ken blends on a skin-friendly DPG base, which keeps the scent close to the skin for longer and makes the bottles easy to travel with. Every bottle is checked and packed by hand, and if you want a name on the label, it's printed in gold right here before your order ships.
